THE MASTERS 2025

All You Need to Know About The Masters 2025

The Masters is one of the most iconic golf tournaments in the world. As the first Major Championship of the year, held each April, it officially kicks off the golf season in style. The tournament offers breathtaking golf, historic moments, and the coveted green jacket.

This guide will get you up to speed on everything you need to know ahead of The 2025 Masters at Augusta National Golf Club.

THE 2025 MASTERS GUIDE

  • Founded by Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts, the first Masters was held in 1934.
  • Played every April at Augusta National Golf Club, Georgia
  • It’s the only Major Championship held at the same venue every year.
  • The course was co-designed by Bobby Jones and Alister MacKenzie, renowned for his strategic course designs.

In 2024, Scottie Scheffler claimed his second Green Jacket, finishing at -11 for the tournament with a composed, clinical performance. His ball-striking was flawless, and his ability to scramble and save par under pressure set him apart from the field.

Scheffler held off strong challenges from the likes of Ludvig Åberg, Tommy Fleetwood, Max Homa, and Collin Morikawa, eventually winning by four shots and proving, once again, that he thrives on the biggest stag.

  • The Green Jacket: Awarded to the winner since 1949. The jacket is returned after the champion’s year but remains an iconic symbol.
  • Amen Corner: Holes 11, 12, and 13 form golf’s most famous and treacherous three-hole stretch.
  • The Champions Dinner: Hosted on Tuesday night of Masters week by the previous year’s champion, who selects the menu (Jon Rahm’s menu in 2025 is expected to have a Spanish twist!).
  • The Par-3 Contest: Played on Wednesday, where past champions and current players compete with family members often caddying (or putting!)—no Par-3 contest winner has ever gone on to win the same year’s Masters!
  1. No Amateur Has Ever Won the Masters – Though Ken Venturi came close in 1956, leading after three rounds before finishing second.
  2. The Pimento Cheese Sandwich: The iconic Masters snack. Fans can buy it for $1.50 (unchanged in price for years), making it a tradition almost as important as Amen Corner itself.
  3. The course was a nursery before Augusta National: Before it became one of the world’s most famous golf courses, the land was home to Fruitland Nurseries. Many hole names (like Magnolia, Azalea, and Camellia) still reflect that botanical heritage.
  4. The Masters Trophy isn’t a green jacket: While the jacket gets the glory, the actual Masters trophy is a sterling silver replica of the Augusta clubhouse—weighing around 20 pounds. A smaller replica is given to the champion to keep permanently.
  5. Jack Nicklaus is the oldest winner: He won his sixth Green Jacket in 1986, at the age of 46—still the oldest winner of any Major championship. His back-nine charge that year is the stuff of legend.

Scottie Scheffler - The 2024 Masters champion and world number one heads to Augusta in red-hot form. With two Green Jackets already to his name, he’s chasing legendary status—and he’s showing no signs of slowing down.

Jon Rahm - The 2023 champion will be looking to bounce back after handing over the Green Jacket. Rahm’s power and precision are perfectly suited to Augusta’s layout.

Rory McIlroy - Off the back of his win at The Players Championship, Rory could take his recent good form to Augusta.

Ludvig Åberg - After a breakout season and a strong 2024 showing, Åberg returns to Augusta with more experience and more belief. Could this be his Masters moment?
