How It Works
The Q-You Award categories have been chosen to provide you with an opportunity to tell the great stories of individuals and their outstanding contributions over the past year.
In each category remember the line “short story not encyclopaedia”!
We want you to be clear and to the point whilst ensuring a good background is given rather than assuming the judging panel understand the nuts and bolts of your reasons for nominating.
Remember:
- Why – the purpose
- What – the specifics
- What makes them extraordinary – the impact
Say it like it is. Don’t worry about using fancy language. Feel free to use bulleted lists where appropriate, providing that the broader context has been given.
Use concrete examples and facts. Whilst we have not been rigid about what evidence (metrics or otherwise) to use, make sure you can back up your “Why” with good facts as well as ensuring that the characteristics and behaviours shine through for the people we wish to recognise.
Bring it to life. Speak from the heart! Be a great storyteller!
What’s unique? There will be a lot to read! Make your nomination stand out.
Take your time.
Leave it and review it.
Get it in!
We hope you are in the right place to find the information you need. However, if anything springs to mind that you cannot find here, please use the Q-You Awards inbox…
We’ll also keep you updated on here and through regular email updates.
Shortlisting will be complete by the first week in March. It is envisaged that General Managers will be sent the invites for nominees in the hotels/departments by the end of w/c 17 March.
Dependent on how many nominees each hotel/department have will determine how many additional invites (golden tickets) they might receive to choose guests as they see fit:
- General Managers will attend the awards evening with up to five other team members, including those who have been shortlisted
- Central support senior leaders will attend the awards evening with those from their team who have been shortlisted for an award
There may then be the opportunity for an allocation of golden tickets for further guests from the central support teams, but this is not a given.
Evening wear/Dress to impress but this does not necessarily need to be black tie
How can I make those who have a nomination feel special even before they get to the event?
The choices are entirely yours. But what about allowing them a spa treatment, manicure etc. Or something similar?
Travel arrangements should be coordinated locally so that General Managers/Senior Leaders and their guests/nominees all travel together to the event (where appropriate). This is very much part of the overall experience, and we would encourage General Managers/Senior Managers to make the invitees feel as special as possible throughout the day.
Costs for the event will be equally distributed across the portfolio. Details are still to be finalised but will be informed as soon as full costs are known.
